Wandering Wino: Luck of the Irish Edition

If you remember my review of Speaker's Bistro at the Downtown Sheraton, I forgot to mention how attractive the downstairs lounge/bar area is. If you want a chance to check it out and enjoy some affordable bites and drinks, you might want to consider the next installment of their Spring Wine Series.

Their co-sponsor is West End Discount Liquors & Wines and this month's theme is "Southern Hemisphere Excursion." Selections to be tasted include Trivento Torrontes, Palo Alto Sauvignon Blanc, Natura Syrah, Palo Alto "Red" and Trivento Malbec. Enjoy some urbane urban wine tasting.

September's Restaurant in Hendersonville off Vietnam Veteran's Parkway has two upcoming events you might want to look into.

The 1808 Grille, located at the Hutton Hotel, has launched a monthly event series. The first two were wine events (a wine dinner with Caymus and a progressive tasting with Arrington).

March's shindig will be a St. Patrick's whiskey tasting!

Irish Whiskey Tasting

The event runs all day starting at lunch at 11:30 a.m. into the wee hours. An incentive to go early is that the first 100 guests receive a complimentary whiskey glass.

On Thursday, March 18, they will have Carr Vineywards and Winery here to host a dinner that will include 5 courses paired with Carr wines. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, March 30, Victor Hugo Winery will be there to host a dinner that will include five courses paired with Victor Hugo wines. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Below you will find both menus, which Chef Joe Shaw will prepare.
