It's the day after the day that's a sentence: March Fourth, as Family Wash pointed out in a tweet. So does that mean tonight at happy hour we're destined to down a March Fifth?
It's also three days after another momentous date: 3-2-1-0. As in "blast off." Won't happen again until 4-3-2-1.
Nashvillest is counting on warm weather in the coming days and planning a Bobbie's Dairy Dip lunch visit in honor of its seasonal reopening. There's already some bustle going on inside, a quick drive past revealed.
Also hanging out seasonal "Open for Business" signs and counting on warm days are Mas Tacos (could have cried when their "see you next year" tweet arrived in January), Jolly Rogue snowballs, and I Dream of Weenie.
What's got your hopes up this week?

What’s the scoop with Lucky Bamboo? I’ve read some not so good reviews.
Is it the real deal?
Bobbie's just ain't the same after a change in ownership a few years ago.
Lunch at McNamara's earlier this week. Donelson needs more sit down type lunch spots. The steak and biscuits aren't as good as I remember Ireland's to be, but the atmosphere is much better than the last days of Plantation House and I see a few after work happy hours in my future.
I agree, Donelson is in need of more places to grub down. There seemed to be a good crowd at McNamara's last weekend (Saturday night maybe?)
I'd give anything to have a solid chicken tender place near the airport. McDougal's, I'm looking at you!
Speaking of the airport, I'm picking up two friends coming in about 1.5- 2 hours apart on Thursday after next. Are there any good coffee shops (or anything really) around there to kill some time at and grab a good cup of coffee?
Ate at Tamarind on Demonbreum this week. It was pathetic.
Terribly overpriced. Sorry samosas.
Chicken tikka ($14) weak and vegetable malai kofta was disgraceful (few bundas made with a melon baller in a ton of sauce=humman.)
Who are these Indians that open these marginal places and then disappear? I get the feeling that they must go from place to place where people are desperate for indian food.
This place will be out of business soon. Wonder what burrito place will move in.
Blake - if you're near the airport and need a coffee shop to hang, Phat Bites is the place. They're right off Allen Road (the street next to Bar-B-Cutie on Donelson Pk) and they have good food, coffee, sweets and best of all, free wi-fi.
thanks for the tamarind review, uncle jesus. i work down there and love indian food, so i'd like to try it, but i know deep in my heart no place will be able to top bombay. seems like i should just skip the trial altogether...
Blake: Phat Bites is awesome, but only open until 3pm. Maybe it will work for you if you're picking up your friends early. Provence Breads has a cafe in the airport if you don't mind hanging around the airport.
Blake -- how about McNamara's on Lebanon Road? It's about 2 miles from the airport and people are loving it. It's open from 11 a.m. until, so if you're picking people up late in the afternoon, it'll be open. There's also Darfon's, which is fine if you're just hanging, and which is only about half a mile from the airport.
those are good ideas for a hangout near the airport.
does anyone know what we have to do to get them to change the picture at the top of this blog site. who else is sick of that gross guy with the sandwich? hehehe
I can tell you that more than one contributor to this blog agrees with you about the disgusting Mustard Man. We are just content generators. They don't give us the keys to the design side...
I can confirm that at least two contributors to this blog agree that Mustard Man makes the gorge rise. At least one of those in agreement has previously undertaken proceedings to remediate the situation and got approximately no traction on the idea of a less disgusting image for the food page.
But let's keep at it. In fact, that could be an Open Thread topic.
Finally made my way to Martin's...maybe it's the opening week kinks..but the food was not up to par with the other local options..dried out brisket...beyond fatty pork..and rather boring ribs..from the way everyone made it sound...I was definitely let down.
Great news - Sylvan Park on 8th Avenue South is back!! Guess I wasn't the only one who did not care for the food at Sweet Tea Diner because Sylvan Park bought the place back just last week. They are only open for breakfast and lunch right now.
I have always been under the impression that the imagery that anchors this blog page was Jim Ridley(?)
And what is the difference between barbecue and gambling in Tunica? 90% of the time you lose. At $15 to $25 bucks a pop for meat that is likely ruined, I have given up on. And you *know* that after spending a ridiculous amount of time dicking around with a hunk of meat they are NOT going to toss it to the dogs no matter how bad it is. Keep chewing~!
