I recently checked in with Frothy Monkey owner Miranda Whitcomb to get an update on her new venture, Burger Up, and ask her when the much-anticipated burger palace is expected to open in the 12th & Paris development in the 12South neighborhood.
As with most restaurant openings, there have been a few hiccups and delays, but Whitcomb says construction is now working apace, and Burger Up will likely open sometime in February. "Sooner rather than later, I hope," she says, laughing.
Whitcomb still plans to try to use local ingredients whenever possible, including beef from Triple L ranch in Franklin. She's also recruited someone new to run the Burger Up kitchen. Chris Hyler is a chef who honed his fine-dining skills in South Carolina but now lives in the neighborhood. In fact, he and his family live in the residential part of the 12th & Paris complex, just steps from the restaurant.
