That Puccetti Salad at Mafiaoza's is something else. For salad lovers, it's a winsome mixture of baby field greens, fried goat cheese cakes, dried cranberries, real sliced roast chicken in a lemony homemade dressing, topped with Marcona almonds....
Lots and lots of toasty, crunchy Marcona almonds! So many, we lined them up on the plate's edge and counted 31 of them. Later, two more were located under a leaf.
Maybe it was just my lucky day. Maybe the garde manger was shaking the almond jar over the salad and it slipped, and, well, you aren't going to pick out the almonds and reuse them, are you, when they've touched the salad dressing?
Or maybe -- oh, frabjous day! -- there are always 33 Marcona almonds in the Puccetti Salad. If so, it sort of answers the question, "Who goes to Mafiaoza's and orders a salad?"
