FDA Food Seizures at Nashville Warehouse

Posted by Nicki Wood on Wed, Jan 6, 2010 at 3:16 PM

Marshals working under the direction of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration today seized $1 million in food from Won Feng Trading, a distributorship on Eugenia Drive in the warehouse district between Thompson Lane and I-440, according to a story on NashvillePost.com. The business was given a warning in May, complete with specifics on rodent infestation, live birds in the building and nonstandard, uncleanable storage units. A November follow-up inspection documented continued unsanitary conditions.

Complete details on the seizure are in the NashvillePost story.

She said "ethnic"
From the description of the conditions I thought they were mistakenly in the local Home Depot.

I wonder if the INS is involved. The WSMV story mentioned several small houses near cabbage cook facility being used as employee housing.

Someone who knows the situation told me that there was canteen-style cooking going on at the warehouse -- that the firm was supplying local steam tables.
