Sauce on the Side: Our Weekly Open Thread Invites Your Comments

Posted by Nicki Wood on Fri, Dec 4, 2009 at 10:05 AM

Steak costs a fortune, or does it have to? Give a working guy a tip: where is the good value in steak?

The difference in art and science is dissolving, so it's hard to know whether guacamole is an art or a science. Perhaps professionals can help.

Guacamole calls for chips, and chips call for drinks: homemade cordials are easy to make but it may take a professional to make it right.

Morale of the story: whatever the question, Bites readers have an answer.

Today, THE TWITTER told me that the Wild Cow Vegetarian restaurant on Eastland (across from Rosepepper) will be opening early next week with a grand opening benefit on the 12th. Sadly, I'll be out of town and will miss the GO.
And the husband and I were in Bellevue and hungry and stopped in at Lemongrass Sushi and Thai. Surprisingly nice decor and extremely friendly staff. And I had this mixed fresh vegetable stir fry that was really good--no less than ten perfectly cooked vegetables mixed in there and no sign of sliced onion and bell pepper (too offten a large part of the collection and not one I like).

Lesley- I'm very excited about The Wild Cow too! So many vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.
I love Lemongrass, it's one of Bellevue's hidden gems. They have great sushi, thai food, and other asian fare. I rarely get out that way, so I'm glad to hear it's still doing well.

I forgot to mention, I went to Dose on Murphy Rd. yesterday and noticed they finally started making some changes from the old Portland Brew format. The set up inside seems to be more inviting, they have new drink menus which seem to vary slightly from before, and they have new baked goods. I had the hot apple cider. I don't know what they did to change it, but it's wonderful. Tastes like eating a baked apple. I also tried the chocolate brioche, yum! I think the new baker is Marmellata, or something similar.

I've had really good food at Lemongrass, too. A little pricey on the sushi side, but I prefer the Thai dishes, anyway.

Does anyone know if Lemongrass has anything without gluten in it?
