I can't even believe that! Gourmet is how I learned to cook, since my mom was a terrible cook.
I wonder if it's the competition from Fine Cooking, Saveur, Food & Wine, etc.

I think the thing that's hard to grasp is that they're keeping Bon Appetit instead of Gourmet.
The Rachel Rayification of the world continues.

I keep hearing people say that they can't believe Bon Appetit is staying while Gourmet is going. The article I read said that BA had a 1.3m subscriber base, while Gourmet had about a 950k base. The people spoke, and were heard.

My point exactly. Gourmet has a more sophisticated approach to food, ingredients, and developments in the food world.
Bon Appetit is more geared to the 30 minute meal crowd.

I get both G and B&A and I swear to god I cannot tell the difference - especially recently. One of them does too many stories about hot new restaurants in the Seychelles or whateverthehellever and that always drives me crazy, but I swear I can't tell them apart. Though I do hate the recent BA design overhaul.
