Starting tonight and continuing on the third Wednesday of the next two months (that's 10/21 and 11/18 for the calendarily challenged), Arrington Vineyards will be hosting a Wine & Cigar Night at the estate at 6211 Patton Road in Arrington. Middle Tennessee's Cigar sempai Michael Leedle will be on premise suggesting stogies to pair with Arrington's selection of reds and white. Arrington will also have live music and stay open an extra hour for this event which will run from 6 to 9 p.m.
No reservations are necessary, but you might want to get there early for the best selections of wine and cigars to purchase. Call 395-0102 or email info@arringtonvineyards.com for more information.
In related Arrington news, the website indicates that Arrington is now free to ship wine to the vast geographical area shown on the map below:
Not exactly the unrestrained free market trade that the folks at Red, White and Food were looking for, but at least it's a start.Showing 1-2 of 2
No, actually, it's not a start, it's a damn joke. I am sick and tired of everyone thinking this is too hard and too big and too complicated and just not that big a deal anyway THIS YEAR, and to pat everyone on the back and bolster up more fund raising for NEXT YEAR. Is this industry so lobby-based that the lobbyists for change are now enjoying their salaries too much to actually effect any change themselves?
And yes, it is that big a deal, because it represents that our state legislature is utterly incapable of representing anyone or anything except special interests and lobbyists.
Any entity that can pass hate-based Constitutional amendments with more ease than a budget should be ashamed that it cannot accomplish a simple revamp of good ol' boy wink-wink liquor laws. And by god, any organization that has now taken our money for how many years had better get those good ol' boys to actually vote and go on the record instead of tabling things for next year.
Yes, I know all the complicating factors and why they table it. And you know what, if someone there were physiologically complete with brain, spine, reproductive organs, and good old courage, then they'd change that rule, too. Jack Daniel's and George Dickel lost there protection, it's time the liquor distributors and stores grow up and compete like big boys.
