Brothers Aziz and Sean Ashurov are making a stealthy debut with their Taste of Italy restaurant at 208 Fourth Avenue North. For now, the restaurant is offering takeout and delivery only, while the owners wait to get the air conditioning system installed.
When things cool off, the Brothers Ashurov will invite guests to dine inside the building, which formerly housed Okinawa restaurant. The downtown restaurant is their second Taste of Italy. (The original is in Donelson.) The team also owns Steak Plus Pizza in Antioch.
Taste of Italy offers a roster of pastas, homemade pizzas, steaks, sandwiches, salads and desserts, with prices ranging between $3.99 and $12.99. Takeout and delivery within a 7-mile radius are available from 10 a.m. until late, seven days a week. (Phone: 732-2000.)
As always, if you get there before we do, please report back on Bites.

I wish them luck. in the 7 years we've been downtown, that location has seen a parade of restaurants:
China Palace/house/dragon/golden something
The Sushi Factory
Okinawa
I think there was another one, but my memory fails
Is it the space that's somehow the problem, Zorro? Or is the rent so high that a lunch-only place can't make it?
this frightens me so much, not the least of which is the breadth of their menu. What, no burgers?
Wow, Kay's right. That's a frighteningly massive menu, which always means the potential for Sysco. We keep an open mind, though.
That Tazza joint on Church has the same issue. It's like a 300-item menu.
fried cheesecake and "gourmet" pizza
thank you and goodnight
I've visited the one in Donelson once, and it was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in Nashville.
We had planned on going to Wilma Kaye's but they had taken over that location so we gave them a chance. Between us we sampled a pizza, wings, and the fettucini none of which we liked.
Maybe things have improved since that was not long after they had opened, but I haven't given them another shot.
Nicks, I think it's the space; it's a dark hallway. It reminds me a bit of that creepstastic naw'lins music joinf on Woodland st.
We have tried their place in Donelson, and enjoyed it every single time. They openning up during this hard economic time, we should give them thumbs up! We need this kind of place in Nashville Downtown, good food, affordable price! Tired of Tazza with below 50 health score, always dirty!
