With news of the acquisition of the Scene by City Paper parent SouthComm, you can imagine the conversation topics swirling in this office this week...Redundancy? Severance? COBRA?
Nope. We're talking about ice.
Nfocus editor Ellen Nelson--like the erstwhile band Young Nashvillians--likes the ice from the old Shoney's. Sales maven Maggie Bond says Bread & Co.'s ice is "crushed to perfection." Operations director Julie Rutter, who has thrice spawned and therefore endured three sets of irrational nutritional cravings, endorses Sonic, Moe's and Otter's.
Patterson House gets the nod from a handful of Scenesters, though no one seemed to care whether it was block, pellet, crushed or globe--just so long as it was submerged in a cocktail.
Cream blogger Patrick Rodgers likes the ice at some Korean place. He can't remember the name of the joint but says the ice is shaped like little top hats and therefore "very classy."
Predictably, Jack Silverman votes for the almond ice at Savarino's Cucina--but, dude, that's dessert. That's not what we're talking about. I bet you like that sandwich with broccoli rabe, too, don't you, Jack? Well, that's equally irrelevant.
What ice do you like?
