Got a bacon recipe you've been wanting to smack someone upside the head with? Here's your chance: The Nashville Bacon Takedown. On Sept. 13, Brooklyn resident Matt Timms will orchestrate a bacon-off that he promises will be "completely brutal and amazing!"
After participating in rigorous chili cook-offs, where the rules of beans vs. no beans and other such arcane chili-ana overshadowed the fun of culinary sport, Timms--an actor and filmmaker--decided to create his own brand of less-regulated cooking competitions. Having hosted Takedowns with ice cream, cookies and soup, he has now turned to the gateway protein itself.
Timms invites you to bring your salty-smoky-pork-stained recipes for bacon ice cream, bacon chili, bacon apple pie and more to Aerial, the private club above Paradise Park Trailer Resort (411 Broadway), where they will go head to head to win the purse of $100.
It's free to enter and $15 to sample all the entries. For more information or to register, email mtimms7 (at) hotmail (dot) com.
And if you go, by all means report back on Bites.
