In a recent Bites thread about useless kitchen gadgets, the subject of the Square Egg Maker came up. I received an SEM as a gift sometime back in the last century and used it approximately zero times. None the less, it crowded out the useful paraphrenalia in my mom's kitchen drawers for approximately the next 20 years.
Well, waste not want not and all that. But damn, now that I want an SEM, mine's nowhere to be found. Not in Mom's kitchen drawer. Most likely, it's in the back of an AmVets truck.
So I put out an APB for SEM's on facebook. Several people said WTF, but one particularly resourceful friend replied with the video posted above.
Please, have a look at the video, and if you happen to find one of these thingamajigs in your kitchen drawer, in your mom's kitchen drawer or in the back of an AmVets truck, please let me know. I might be willing to make you an offer--of approximately zero dollars.

These things must be pretty rare. A search for egg cuber on ebay only finds five listings, two of which are in the UK. All the ones stateside are sets of three, and I tell you I was very tempted to purchase them and send you one Carrington, but I'm not sure my wife would want me to bring more things into the kitchen. Still a bargain at 9.99 plus shipping for three though.

Three Square Egg Makers? Three Bites bloggers? Seems like a logical staff purchase to me. (I'll share mine with Mr. Pink.)
Actually, you'd probably need three to process the volume required by the demand for square egg canapes and Bento Box creations.
I've had one for decades, and yes I've used it. It's great when you're having an hors' doevres party (and I bet I spelled that wrong). You're in the kitchen all day making food anyway, it's easy to boil an egg (which takes typically the 10-12 minutes it takes to make an egg square) and it's a nice break in the routine of whatever else you're making. My friends still want me to figure out a way to put black dots on the sides so they look like six-sided dice.
Nope, you can't have mine.
