Sam's All American Sports Grill is testing out its new menu in advance of its planned opening on Monday, July 26, in the building that formerly housed Barfield's, in the Streets of Indian Lakes in Hendersonville.
We've got a couple of free meal passes, each of which invites two people to sample the lunch (11 a.m. to 2 p.m.) or dinner (5 to 7 p.m.) menu Thursday, Friday or Saturday.
In the spirit of Sam's being a sports bar, it seems like we ought to have a sports trivia contest to determine a winner. Of course, this being a food blog, it seems like the trivia ought to be food-related.
Hmmmm. OK, I've got it:
In Disney's High School Musical film trilogy, East High Knights athlete Zeke Baylor has a surprising non-sporting interest. What sport does he play, and what is his non-sporting passion?
Showing 1-12 of 12
Basketball and Baking..
Sadly, I know it because I've seen all three..
:-/
You both win! Tickets will be at the front desk with your names on them in approximately 45 seconds. (Wow, we have some logistics to work out. The next quiz will be much less Wiki-able, and you won't be able to win by saying "Ditto!" That said, I trust AmyBMid. Anyone who shares my passion for HSM is most certainly honest.)
What can I say? He won me over when he made the creme brulee...
In my defense, I'm a single guy in my 30's with no children so it's far less creepy that I googled the answer rather than actually watching any of the High School Musical movies!
I also work in the Rivergate area where good non-chain lunch spots are not as plentiful as other areas so free lunch in Hendersonville is a score.
What time are the Scene offices open till?
Your definition of "sports trivia" is under investigation.
I am always available for your geeky quiz bowl needs.
No children here, either :) HA! Just the nieces and nephews.. Yes. That's the ticket, nieces and nephews.. :)
Don't tell anyone but I let the HSM video keep playing in the car, even after I drop the kids off.
Just got back from a tasty lunch at Sam's with my free pass - thanks!
I never made to Barfields while they were open, but the space is very nice. It's very open, tons of TV's in every direction, dark enough for optimum sports viewing but doesn't feel like you're in a cave in the middle of the day, and there's a nice patio. It's like a much classier version of the Hillsboro Sam's location - not that anything is wrong with the original, this is just a way different feel. The menu was great, all the sports bar favorites with reasonable prices and portion sizes were bigger than I expected.
