Santa Fe Cattle Files For Bankruptcy Protection

Posted by Carrington Fox on Thu, Jul 16, 2009 at 4:38 PM

Brentwood-based Santa Fe Holding Co., parent of roadhouse-themed restaurant chain Santa Fe Cattle Co., filed for bankruptcy protection yesterday, according to NashvillePost.com, where the story is available to subscribers.

The company released a statement in which it said it would use the Chapter 11 reorganization process "to strengthen its financial position which will improve operating and financial performance."

Danny York and Dave Wachtel--the pair that co-founded Logan's Roadhouse--introduced the Santa Fe concept in 1996. York, who also operates Mère Bulles, sold his stake to Wachtel and ultimately repurchased it after Wachtel's death. In the last two years, Santa Fe has been on a growth spurt, with plans to grow from 17 to 100 units.

I submitted a YASNI timely entry, "You can't decide if your favorite restaurant's food tasted better before or after they filed bankruptcy"
It was timely, but apparently too jurisprudential.

well yeah, when you continue to move forward with your plan on going from 17 to 100 restaurants (estimated at $2.3 million each) in these economic times...one can't expect that great of a ROI.

I hope they keep the one near Opryland open, it's a great place for a quick meal.
