Remember the DIY rage of hand-painted Keds sneakers? Now you can add your own footie flair to a pair of TOMS traditional South American espadrilles, while helping bring footwear to kids in need.
For every pair of TOMS purchased ($48), the company delivers a pair to a child somewhere in the world. Today, Whole Foods in Green Hills is hosting a TOMS-decorating event, with all the feathers, paints and bling you could need to pimp your plain-white wheels. (Cue the Paul Simon tune.)
The event will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. downstairs in the dining area, with free snacks. Admission is free with the purchase of a pair of TOMS, and a $25 gift card will be awarded to the designer of the most creative pair of shoes. Whole Foods and Whole Body carry only adult sizes of the vegan-organic shoes, but Snap Kids, located in the Hill Center, carries children's TOMS.
