Yazoo Brewing Company, the 6-year-old craft brewery that put the derelict Marathon Motor Works back on the map, is moving to the backyard of the Gulch next year. Demolition has begun on the warehouse at 901 Division, in the shadow of the new Gulch highrises. If things go smoothly, the move could happen the first of the year.
Owner Linus Hall says his quaintly rustic tasting room and brewery--recognized in the Scene's Best of Nashville poll as the Best Local Brewhouse &
Best Underground Happy Hour--have outgrown the Marathon space. So with the lease running out, he bought a larger facility.
The new digs will be pretty much like the old space, only a lot bigger, says Hall. The relocation will also allow Yazoo to increase production as much as four-fold, making it possible to consider expanding distribution into the Carolinas, Georgia, and Linus and Lila Hall's home state, Mississippi.
When Yazoo migrates to the renovated air-conditioner parts supply warehouse, the Tap Room will still be open in the evenings Thursday through Saturday. As the neighborhood around the Gulch fills in--and demand for a full-time pub emerges--the hours might expand.
Yazoo is currently located at 1200 Clinton Street.

Woooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooo
Yaaaaaaazzzzzzzoooooooo!
Sweet!!! Good beer and easy to find place... Awesome...
I hate to rain on the parade, but I dread the move -- already it's impossible to find anywhere to park in the Gulch.
This is sort of "Gulch-area," in the penumbra of Little Dubai. Parking might be more forgiving down there. Or hell, we can just walk from the office.
Love it!! Time to start looking for a cheap condo down there to use as my weekend home.....
penumbra of Little Dubai.
WAT?
cheap condo down there
Haha. Good luck with that.
I LOOOOOOOOOVE that it will be closer to me. But DITTO on the parking situation. Seriously, where are all these people gonna park?!?!
You mean people actually live in those condos?
Anyone remember the short-lived Yazoo beer called "George Tucker" that was served at Christopher's Pizza Co.? I really miss that one.
You mean people actually live in those condos?
There was a recent article on bizjournals' Nashville site about how the condo mess has actually attracted a shit ton of renters who are apparently lining up to pay upwards of a grand per month for a 1br to live in places like the Gulch. So high is the demand that there's apparently a waiting list just to get in.
As for Yazoo, looking forward to them being closer.
