Word from a spokesman for the Harris Teeter Mothership in North Carolina is that July 15 is the scheduled opening date of the Harris Teeter on Harding Road. Invitations will be going out to thousands of local households to a July 14 Taste of Teeter event to sample HT products.
Construction to transform the old Belle Meade theater into a Harris Teeter began in 2006, and lately seemed to lag, particularly in comparison to the adjacent apartment buildings, which have been open for months. A trip through the construction site one month ago revealed the store's coolers and signage in place. There were rumours.
A lawsuit reported in online business news site Nashvillepost.com yesterday may hold a partial explanation: The BMT Associates group, led by developer Tony Giarratana, has sued architect Gresham Smith Partners, asserting that poor performance caused the total bill to rise, and construction delays to result in lost revenue.
The Nashville Post story, which is behind a subscription wall until Monday, includes a link to the lawsuit.
