The 24th annual Miss Martha's Ice Cream Crankin' moves up a couple of months, from August to June, and while the temperatures might be a little more forgiving, the 'scream competition is sure to be just as cutthroat as in years past. Remember when Mango Madness body-slammed Spiced-Up Chocolate? Or when a Take 5 candy bar confection took gold the next year? Just think what the amateur crankers can churn out when they're not panting with heat stroke. As always, the winning entry will be turned into an official Purity flavor and sold in stores. The all-you-can-taste family-friendly event is sponsored by Purity Dairies and benefits the Martha O'Bryan Center. $13 adults ($10 in advance), $7 ($5 in advance) for kids 2 to 12. 4 to 6 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 4815 Franklin Road.
