A Bites reader emailed recently with the following question:
I have a culinary confession to make.I'm almost 50 years old now and have never--not even once--eaten lobster!! I have heard all the stories over the years from friends--it's tough, it's expensive, it's overrated, etc. So I'm simply asking you if there is a restaurant within 50 miles of Metro for a lobster "noob" to get his first taste without being too disappointed?
All right, Bites team, this is where you're at your best. Find this reader a lobster.

The Palm offers steamed 2 and 3 lb. Nova Scotia lobsters. If it won't break your bank, go there for your first lobster experience if you can't make it to the east coast (Boston,Ma, or Maine), The Palm does lobster quite well.
And please, don't let your first experience with lobster be a "warm water" one. You'll be highly disappointed. There is a discern able difference between cold water and warm water lobster. Mainly, the texture of the meat, and the flavor. Also, if you're going to be super fussy, try and get a female vs. the male of the species. Meat is waaaaay sweeter.
Have to agree, if budget is not an issue, just trust your experience to the experts at the Palm. And don't be afraid to tell them it's your first - these are professionals who love to share their expertise and their pride of what they do well, so let them take care of you.
