The Nashville Farmer's Market welcomes spring and a newly renovated facility on May 2, with free music, local food and family activities from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Every hour on the hour, guests can watch chefs including Jeremy Barlow of Tayst, Julia Helton of Julia Helton catering, Joe Shaw of The Standard at the Smith House and Martha Stamps of Martha's at the Plantation as they demonstrate recipes inspired by the regional crops available in the market buildings.

Kids can exercise their green thumbs at the veggie planting station where they can sow their own organic bean or tomato seeds to take home. Men of Action take the Market House stage from noon to 2 p.m. with Southern swing.

The Celebration marks the completion of renovations begun in 2007, including a new layout, new tables and chairs, renovated bathrooms and new heating and air systems. The Market House will continue to evolve over the coming months as new shops, farmers and vendors join the list of 40 local growers.

The Farmers' Market is located at a 900 Rosa Parks Blvd.
