Cantina Laredo Opening in Gulch April 21

Posted by Carrington Fox on Fri, Apr 17, 2009 at 6:44 AM

Cantina Laredo, the upscale Mexican restaurant in the ground floor of the Icon, will open Tuesday, April 21.

Executive chef Larry Sinclair will deliver a menu of authentic Mexican-inspired dishes, including daily fish specials, grilled chicken and steaks complemented by signature sauces such as chipotle-wine with portobello mushrooms or sauteéd artichoke hearts and roasted red bell peppers. Entrees are price between $14 and $26.

The first Tennessee location of the 29-restaurant Dallas-based chain, Cantina Laredo will be open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Brunch will be served on Sunday.

If you get there before we do, please report back on Bites, especially regarding the margaritas made with fresh-squeezed lime juice and the guacamole prepared tableside.

Alas, it is a shame that Watermark and Provence are the only local businesses to sit in such a massive and inspiring urban development.
It is too bad that the developers didn't have more vision and strive to make the Gulch into a true representation of our city.

We've been to Cantina Laredo in Dallas. One of our favorite places to go when we visit. You gotta try the sizzling hot apple pie with cinnamon ice cream for dessert.

I could've sworn that the prices at the Cantina Laredo in Dallas were much cheaper (like $8-20 for entrees), but maybe I just haven't been in a long time. In general though, food in restaurants here seems to be pricier than other places I've lived or visited. Why is this?

I had an amazing experience last night, which you can read about on my blog. the manager was nice enough to comp our entire meal since he saw that I mentioned Cantina Laredo in my blog. i really did not expect that. I don't get paid for reviews or get free stuff. my blog is for fun. but we would have gladly paid full price. it was an awesome, fun girls night out, an the Gulch is impressive!
