Put your nose to grindstone to learn about coffee from seed to cup when the experts at Belmont Boulevard's caffeinated landmark host Coffee 101. Bongo Java's coffee experts will show photos from their travels to coffee-growing communities around the world and demonstrate how they roast beans, brew a cuppa joe and make the perfect espresso. The course catalog (actually, the email blast) promises "you'll taste an espresso in different stages to see why you really do need a $10,000 machine to make the perfect drink."

Classes are free on March 11 at 3 p.m. and April 1 at 5:30 p.m. Call 777-2572 to RSVP for limited seating.

On April 14 at 6:30 p.m., Bongo Java will host a Coffee 101 fundraiser for the University School of Nashville for $40 a person.
