Given the outpouring of love for House of Kabob in a recent Bites thread, here's an event that might be of interest: The downtown public library tonight hosts a preview screening of Arusi Persian Wedding, a documentary by Iranian-American director Marjan Tehrani. The film from PBS' Independent Lens chronicles the return of the filmmaker's brother to Iran with his new American wife for a traditional Persian wedding ceremony that brings him face-to-face with cultural differences and his lost heritage.
The free event kicks off at 5:15 p.m. with a reception featuring House of Kabob. The film begins at 6 p.m., followed by a discussion with Muslim filmmaker Lena Khan, Pouria Montazeri of the Nashville Film Festival and Dr. Amir Arain of the Islamic Center of Nashville. RSVP to rsvp (at) wnpt (dot) net.
Here's a clip from the film.

I love all the info for Persian food and culture recently. I have gone out with a Persian guy for a little over two years now, it is a very rich and interesting culture. Hot Kabob is also one of my favorite haunts. I have to go to House of Kabob for lunch now - I am craving some Kubideh !
