Economic Theory at Ombi: Small is Beautiful

Posted By on Wed, Jan 21, 2009 at 7:16 AM

Sensing that people are tightening their belts, chefs Laura Wilson at Jason Love at Ombi restaurant are tinkering with the menu to give folks more affordable options. The result is an expanded list of small plates ranging from $2 to $6, which will complement Ombi's regular list of entrees. In addition, bar manager Terrell Raley has added more $10-and-under options to the list of wines and sherries available by the glass. Ombi kicked off the small plates repertoire this past weekend and will continually refresh the roster. A sample menu follows after the jump.

White Beans with Candied Hamhock $2

Linguini with Garlic, Chiles, Olive Oil and Parmesan $4

Grilled Leg of Pork with Sweet & Sour Onions and Pomegranate Molasses $5

Spicy Spanish Potatoes $3

Crispy Fried Onions with Red Pepper Ketchup $2

Chicken & Apple Sausage with Braised Red Cabbage and Grainy Mustard $

Duck Confit and Crispy Potatoes Tossed with Arugula $4

Pork Empanada with Cilantro and Lime $6

Potato Gnocchi with an Arugula Pesto $3

Duck Rillette with Toasted Bread and Cornichons $5

Fried Artichoke Bottoms with Garlic Aioli $4
