Pondering the Sunny Side of the Street at Provence, Green Hills

The roast lamb and brie sandwich on rosemary bread.

Perhaps in deference to the times, Provence Green Hills seems to be lowering the prices of some of its offerings. The breakfast sandwiches are just $3.99 and tubs of eggplant spread and rouille, just $4.99. Stop in for a bite in the morning and you could take home a little something for later, all at prices lower than I remember.

While you're there, admire the patio, whose complex geometry will probably make more sense when there is sunshine and wine. We can hope for both sooner rather than later.

Both Provence & Bread & Company are ridiculously overpriced, I will not spend my money there again anytime soon.

Until recently, I worked downtown, very near the library outpost of Provence. It was a constant oasis of calm and civility and I had lunch there almost every day - on sunny ones I'd take my lunch from there up to that rooftop courtyard at the library which is STILL the best kept downtown secret.
It did add up, but I finally learned to just have a sandwich (I'm no vegetarian, but the Montecito is the best) and a cookie and bring my own water or whatever. I think the quality of the food is worth the price.

I buy challah every friday from their cafe in Hillsboro Village. It's my favorite loaf of bread. Also, after a day or two, I'd recommend making a tasty french toast out of it.
