According to a story at NashvillePost.com, Rosario's, the wonderful Mexicali restaurant at Edgehill and Villa, has filed a Chapter 11 petition, asking for time to reorganize and reschedule payment of its debt.
Owners hope to keep the restaurant open and eventually meet their obligations. The filing lists $70,000 in assets and $570,000 in debts.
Just a couple of month ago. Bites was saying good things about the chef salad there. But the blue corn tamale thing was even better. So remember how good the food is and schedule a meal at Rosario's.

If they can hang in there until the weather gets nicer, they've got a good shot. Their patio seemed crowded every time I drove by last summer. Best of luck to 'em.
I'm sorry, but every mention of it I have read so far just smacks of pretense and high prices, and I've stayed away as a result. Tell me I'm wrong and I'll give it a try, but not if I'm paying 10 bucks for guac and a bowl of chips that doesn't get refilled...
We had a thread last week about good Mexican food in town and I don't recall seeing this place listed. Could be wrong, but it must not be THAT good for Mexican if no one mentions it.
Actually, Rosario's is one of the worst restaurants I've ever eaten at in Nashville. Bad salsa, bad margarita, bad dinner, inept service, etc. I don't know anyone that has had a decent experience there.
Probably the life of this thread is expiring, but I'll say for the record...that Rosario's is getting a bum rap. Chips & salsa are free and bottomless at the bar, where they poor pretty good swill, they food ain't half bad, the place is comfy, and the whole 10 dollar guac thing was just a dumb beginner's mistake that they should allowed to live down. Now they have some really cheap daily specials and staff that has been there since the beginning and seem more professional etc.
When Rosario's goes bottom up and if the rest around there follow, it will be a sad day.
I'm with you, evolve. Had a memorably fine meal there in September. And it was packed, so other people must be having good experiences as well.
I had an enjoyable (but agreeably overpriced) lunch there in September as well. And I was actually considering going there with friends on Monday nights. I do hope they stay open, because I really enjoyed it, but I think if they did lower their prices and advertised some great daily specials, more people might come.
