The plot in the Tangredi restaurant story thickens like a well-seasoned marinara. T's Tuscan Bar & Grill closed Thursday when the landlord seized the keys to the Hillsboro Village address, alleging that the business did not maintain adequate insurance on the building, according to NashvillePost.com (subscription required).
In an email exchange Friday, owner Michael Tangredi said, "We have been subjected to what our attorney is calling 'illegal re-entry' by our landlord where he changed the locks on the premises without a court order. Our rent at that location is up to date and there were no true defaults on our end. Our attorney is looking into filing suit in this matter."
The closing of T's comes as the Tangredi family business faces lawsuits from American Express and the U.S. Department of Labor for allegedly bilking the credit card company out of $1.1 million and failing to produce documents related to employment and payroll.
Meanwhile, Tangredi says there has been no change at Tangredi's Italian Kitchen on Elliston. Until the new year, Michael T's American Grill on Division is available only for private parties.
Update: As of this morning, a temporary restraining order has been placed on 2000 Belcourt, prohibiting the Tangredis or people acting on their behalf from entering the building.

Holiday advice: you might not want to be buying gift cards from this restaurant empire to give to your loved ones.
I'm just sayin'...
Again, not a surprise. If anyone who worked here suddenly finds themselves out of a job and has a story to tell, please let me know. I have a blog that contains stories of employee mistreatment and more by the Tangredis. It's about time Nashville rids itself of these liars and thieves.

Adam Dread, attorney for the property owners of 2000 Belcourt, sent this update today:
"At a hearing this morning the Tangredis, operators of T’s Tuscan Grill (the former Trace) were found to be in default, and the lease has been permanently terminated. Exclusive possession has been returned to 2000 Belcourt, LLC, the owners of the property. Another hearing will take place in February to determine how much money the Tangredis owe the landlord in damages, caused by their default."
Tell the landlords to get in line. Looks like they stand behind the million dollar IOU to AmEx.
Unfortunately this remains as one of the only open forums to discuss things since Tangredi Karma was hacked and deleted.
I just got some more legal papers (papers in which I had to go to the post office and pay to receive since the Tangredi's appear to know as much about the USPS as they do about the legal system) stating that some more people have been dragged into this circus of a lawsuit. If any of you new "John Doe's" who would like to discuss anything regarding this, please contact me. I've been trying to assure people from the beginning that wasting money on lawyers is not necessary. I'd be glad to share what I have learned so far and together all of us can calmly and patiently watch the Tangredi empire continue to crash by their own doing.
If you're interested in talking, please leave a post and we'll work on communicating from there. Don't worry, this really is Dishwasher Dennis with the lightning bolt tattoo, for those of you who have met me.
