Come warmer weather, the new and improved Farmers' Market will welcome Fleur de Lis Flavors, a snowball vendor that launched this summer as a mobile purveyor. You might recognize owners Tanisha and Byron Hall, who scooped brightly colored snowballs from their bright-green trailer this year at the Southern Festival of Books and the Hot Chicken Festival, among other events.
Having seen the market for their icy confections--as well as for their fresh-squeezed lemonade and chocolate-covered frozen bananas--the Halls are parking their enterprise in the Farmers' Market food shed, just across the corridor from Swett's.
"It's a fun company I decided to start based on what I grew up with in New Orleans," says NOLA native Tanisha, who imports the flavor concentrates from her hometown. "Snowballs are better than snow cones, because the flavor actually stays with the shaved ice instead of melting down into the cup."
Along with snowballs, bananas and lemonade, Fleur de Lis will offer roasted nuts, organic chocolates and specialty sodas, with special-event catering available. The Halls plan to open sometime in the next couple of months. Located in the Farmers' Market at 900 Rosa Parks Blvd., (Phone: 351-6109) Fleur de Lis will be open 10:30 a.m. 3 p.m. daily.

Having tasted the snowballs and the roasted nuts, I can personally say they are wonderful. You can't go wrong stopping by.
My one request is that, like all snowball stands in NOLA, they offer sweetened condensed milk as a topping.
No. Way. Sweentened condensed milk? Do they call it a Snow Cream?
My favorite snowball: Wedding Cake! Almost like instant honeymoon in a cup!
What a bonus to have them at the Farmer's market. Lets go!
Fleur de Lis Flavors is the real deal. As a native New Orleanian I was thrilled to find a real "snowball" in Nashville. My favorite was the Pina Colada flavor. I also enjoyed the chocolate covered sunflower seeds. If you've never tried a "snowball", I highly recommend Fleur de Lis Flavors.
