Price of British Eggs Now Higher Than Smokes

British eggs are now more expensive than cigarettes. A pack of 20 cigarettes sells for about £4.19 ( $6.21) while 12 eggs are fetching £4.26 ($6.32) in Scotland and elsewhere. Organic eggs, on the other hand, have seen a price collapse, and cost about the same as battery farmed eggs.

The Resurgence in Ancient Near-Mythical Professions

First it was the comeback of the pirate, now it's rustling: Oyster rustlers off the coast of Normandy made off with 8 tons of oysters just prior to the holiday harvest. Oysters are a cherished Christmas tradition in France. Oyster rustling has become a common way to make a little extra spending money during the holidays - last year, gendarmes arrested two men in a Zodiac toting 80 kilos of poached oysters -- but a theft on this scale is unprecedented.
