Allium Almost Open, Help Wanted

Posted by Carrington Fox on Tue, Dec 2, 2008 at 5:05 AM

Allium, the long-awaited second restaurant by Germantown Cafe team Jay Luther and Chris Lowry, is on the verge of opening in East Nashville's 5th & Main development. "Actually, aside from waiting on our beer and liquor permits, we are ready," Lowry says. "We just need to hire people. Lots of them. Spread the word!"

Applicants may inquire at Germantown Cafe (1200 Fifth Ave. N.) or at Allium (501 Main St.).

Hey, they're open now! How long have they been serving?
I went with my boyfriend today after we looked a condo in this building. It's a nice place. The food is REALLY traditional "French bistro." I had a Croque Madam. Hot buttery ham and cheese with some kind of white sauce and a fried egg. Uh, yeah, I'm fine with that. There were some minor service bumps and you can tell they're still tinkering with the menu, but overall I thought it was good.

I spoke with co-owner Chris Lowry this morning, and he was up in the air about whether they would actually serve lunch today or not. Sounds like he "threw caution to the wind," as he said he was thinking about doing. Glad it worked out well. Thanks for the update. Can't wait to get there.
