Drew's Brews at Whole Foods

Posted by Carrington Fox on Fri, Nov 21, 2008 at 5:05 AM

When I stopped by the coffee counter at Whole Foods in Green HIlls this week, I was delighted to see the store is now offering Drew's Brews, in addition to Whole Foods' Allegro brand. The barista said management is waiting to see how things go before making Drew's Brews a permanent offering. Whole Foods sells Drew's Brews and Allegro for the same price. So if you want beans roasted by Nashvillian Drew Park on the java-scented cliffs of East Nashville, make some noise about it next time you're at Whole Foods.

Thank god. WF's Allegro coffee is TERRIBLE.

allegro used to be GREAT back in the day
now i think it is really bad
along with starbucks and bongo java
just not my personal preference
but drew's I LOVE
my personal favorite so far is 'lost weekend'
it's a blend of french roast and i think something ethiopian. and drew doesn't burn his beans... which i for one seriously appreciate.
so, go drew's... and you can also buy it at crema, that wonderful coffee shop on hermitage ave. downtown in the rutledge area. they sell sweet 16th's baked goods. the scones are too good...

I have the same issue with Starbucks, Claudia -- I hate the burnt beans! In fact, now that "burnt" seems to equal "gourmet" I shy away from trying coffees that I would probably like. Tx for the steero n Drew's. How does it stack up to Peet's?

well, i'm on a coffee mission
i just bought a way too serious grinder
and i am trying out a lot of things
i like peet's - it was so much better than whatever else i was picking up - i drank it every day this past spring when i was in santa monica.
but drew's is local - and that is cool. and from what i hear the guy really knows what he's doing and from what i taste, i am grateful. i never found the right bongo java blend. i know everyone loves bob... and i do too. but i think drew's kicks his ass...
if you buy it online it's $8 a pound with nominal shipping

I used to work at a Nashville coffe shop & moved away a few years ago. No one's coffee stacks up to Drew's; his roasts are outstanding. I finally gave up locally (Pittsburgh now) and order all my coffee from Drew.
