The writer and occasional commenter 1050 lb was a fun lunch companion yesterday—isn't it great to re-connect?—at the just-opened Michael T's on Division.
You might drive past and wonder if it's open, since the porch out front is under construction. It is open, and the porch promises to be a good place for enjoying the handmade cocktails listed on the menu.
To bring in the eating public between now and Nov. 15, there are attractive specials on shots, wine and beer, as well as half-price starters. The fried calamari has an impossibly crisp and light batter that shatters when you bite into it. At half-off, the calamari plus a couple of drinks will be a cheap night out.
1050 lb and I really enjoyed our pasta with vodka tomato sauce and Rasta Pasta—perfectly al dente pasta topped with sauces whose flavors were in proper balance and nicely cooked, no shock of oregano or film of uncooked cream. Nice lunch, prices were okay—mine was $14.
In this crowded area of midtown, we got excellent parking intel from our server: drive through the salon parking lot next door and there are spaces behind the old house. We didn't check it out, so report back on the parking scheme.
