On Halloween night, I stood on a sidewalk in East Nashville's Five Points with two hot vampires, the white-masked Vendetta, a guy dressed as a mammogram machine, and a horn-rimmed hottie who was rocking either Sarah Palin or Tina Fey. They were there waiting to get into the Red Door; I was there waiting to get a chicken taco from Mas Tacos Por Favor, the awesome taco wagon stationed late weekend nights in the neighborhood in an outfitted Winnebago.
But if you want to sample Teresa Mason's chicken, pork or quinoa tacos, tamales and watermelon agua fresca, you don't have to wait until the midnight hours. Starting today at 11 a.m., she parks in East Nashville's Riverside Village and serves weekdays until 3 p.m. Check her MySpace page for updates—although we still recommend seeking out Mas Tacos on a late weekend night, when the neighborhood's pub crawlers are catching their second wind. Just don't accept any mammograms from strangers.

were you really all that impressed? i was wholly disappointed with both the pork and chicken tacos i sampled. especially for the $3 price tag. though it could've been an off night/morning, i'll never again trust a hipster with hispanic cuisine.
I will say the concept of setting up for the late night bar crowd is a good one.
Mine was pretty much exactly what I wanted. Bear in mind that all I could afford was one chicken taco, and it was relatively early in the evening—but the chicken was moist and toothsome, the tortillas tasted fresh, and it didn't have the hunks of gristle or bone that sometimes turn my stomach at other taco carts. I will say I could've used more heat—I had to get extra hot sauce, and I still wanted hotter. Maybe as hot as the green sauce at the San Jose Taqueria drive-thru on Nolensville Road, which could cauterize a gunshot wound.
