Fine Food

Posted by on Thu, Jan 3, 2008 at 10:29 AM

It's time again for my favorite amnesty event: Food for Fines at the Nashville Public Library. Through Jan. 9, every container of food (boxes, cans or bags, but no glass, please) delivered to a branch library will go to Second Harvest of Middle Tennessee and will erase $1 in library fines. Last year, the event brought in 13 tons of food, more than a few pounds of which came in the form of Bush's Best black-eye peas that helped pay down the penalty for a lost Pinocchio video cassette that was later unearthed under the back-seat of a late-model navy-blue Honda minivan.
