When brewmaster Linus Hall dropped off a six-pack of Yazoo Hefeweizen, newly available in bottles, we figured, what the hell, it's 5 o'clock somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean and Linus is buying. We gathered at the ceremonial filing cabinet, popped the tops on a few bottles of the Bavarian-style wheat beer, and did our best to imagine what it would taste like in frosty glasses rather than wax-coated cups from the water cooler.
A few first impressions: "Tastes like bananas." (Yes, it does.) "Do you have some lemon?" (The label recommends saving the lemon for your tea.) "It's better than from the tap." (Six-packs are available now in specialty beer stores and will be in supermarkets soon.) "Not as creamy as Blue Moon." (Now you're just bragging about your Hefeweizen knowledge.) "Do I shake it first?" (Better to swirl.)
The verdict: a refreshing treat on a Friday afternoon, and likely one that will require follow-up study at The Tap Room.
