Design Time

Fall brings a menu of tours, sales and auctions to satiate the hungriest of decorative appetites. Whether you need trees for barren landscapes, art for barren walls or even just some new ideas for an old space, mark your calendar for these creative events.

Oct. 15: Festive Flair at Fairvue. Tour of six Gallatin homes and silent auction of decorative table settings. Benefits Office of Disability Services at Volunteer State Community College. Tours start at Fairvue Mansion. $15 in advance, $20 at the door. 230-3506 or  tourofhomes@volstate.edu.

Oct. 16: Plant Collectors’ Auction at Cheekwood. Dinner and auction featuring a wide variety of trees, shrubs, perennials and wildflowers. Cost is $75. Botanic Hall at Cheekwood. www.cheekwood.org.

Oct. 20-23: Artclectic. Juried sale of paintings, sculpture, photography and jewelry from across the country. University School of Nashville, 2000 Edgehill Ave. www.artclectic.com.

Oct. 22-23: Whitland Neighborhood Home Tour. Nearly a dozen homes and gardens featured in the historic neighborhood. $12 per person, $20 per couple. www.whitland.org
