Thanks for tuning in to WSCENE and our 19th broadcast of Best of Nashville, brought to you by Martha White Flour and Goo Goo clusters. Join us as the band strikes up a medley of Nashville old and new—a fusion of local tradition and innovation that we like to call “countrypolitan.” Eek! Doesn’t that mean, like, strings and things? Sure it does. (You got a problem with “He Stopped Loving Her Today”?) More to the point, it means honoring things that always have made the city unique—people, music, beloved restaurants and other institutions—while taking stock of what’s happening now.  In that spirit, Scene writers have selected their favorite things about Nashville, from arts and entertainment to goods and services, from politicians to produce. Throughout these pages, you’ll find “Country” highlights (the old stuff we’ll always love) and “Politan” picks (the new things we’re just getting to know). The result is a profile of a city that is at once steeped in down-home tradition and emerging with world-class polish—a place anyone would be proud to call home.

So sit back, turn up the volume—and enjoy the show.
