Suspect Behavior

Bosom buddies

Two men who set out to pick up hookers on a recent Friday night were busted by police patrolling a “high drug and prostitution” area off Dickerson Pike. The officers say they spotted the johns—ages 32 and 39—arguing with two known prostitutes on the front porch of a trailer on Lucille Street. When police approached, one of the suspects explained that he “felt he had been ripped off because he paid the prostitute money but was not able to receive any sex from her,” according to police. His partner in crime echoed those remarks, but not surprisingly, the cops weren’t too sympathetic and both were booked for patronizing prostitution and disorderly conduct.

Butt head

A 45-year-old man was observed “behaving inappropriately by blowing cigarette smoke in the faces of several small children,” despite being asked several times to stop. Apparently the outrage of nearby parents only fueled the chain-smoking crank, who continued puffing away and exhaling in the faces of the 7- and 8-year-olds on the playground. Police who were called to the scene picked up the suspect for disorderly conduct and public intoxication, saying he had a strong smell of alcohol on his breath, bloodshot eyes and was very unstable.

Twisted sister

Five months after letting her sister move in, a Madison woman called police to have her sibling evicted after a disagreement. Responding officers informed the woman they didn’t have the authority to evict someone and then left the apartment, only to return a few minutes later after she called again to report her squatter sister was threatening to “fuck her up.” The woman went on to describe how she was removing her sister’s clothing from the closet, which prompted the 29-year-old suspect to “shut the door on the victim…pushing her into the closet,” police say. When officers returned, the suspect offered to gather her belongings and leave immediately if her sister agreed not to prosecute. But no such luck—she was charged with domestic assault.

Lying through her aching teeth

A suspected car thief stopped on Gallatin Road tried explaining to police that “a friend let her borrow the vehicle,” but officers weren’t convinced and instead placed her in the back of their cruiser where she began “screaming and kicking.” Wearing some serious high heels, the 20-year-old suspect managed to “puncture three holes in the rear door panel.” Meanwhile, police say they searched the stolen car and uncovered a prescription painkiller “wrapped in a paper sack in the console.” The woman calmed down long enough to tell police “she was taking it for a toothache” and that “a friend gave it to her.” Not buying that story either, police arrested the suspect for drug possession, vandalism, vehicle theft and resisting arrest.
