Suspect Behavior

Theater of the absurd

A female suspect who was “drinking beer and talking on her cell phone” during a movie at the Rivergate Eight Theater became irate when others in the audience complained about her rude behavior. After the movie, the suspect, 47, spotted one of the annoyed moviegoers stopped at a red light on Rivergate Parkway and chucked a beer bottle at the victim’s passenger window, breaking the glass. The victim recorded the perp’s license plate number as she sped away, and police quickly located the suspect, who was booked for vandalism and assault.

Taking it to the text level

A 28-year-old woman reportedly sent numerous threatening text messages to her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend, including a threat to “take it to the next level.” When asked to clarify, police say the suspect texted back, “I will fuck you up.” The woman then showed up at her ex’s apartment and threatened to break his car windows during the night if he didn’t take her back. When he tried to go back inside his apartment, the suspect grabbed his arm to prevent him from getting away. The angry ex finally left when the new girlfriend called the cops, who caught up with the suspect a few hours later and arrested her for harassment and domestic assault.

There goes mom’s ride

An officer patrolling Nashville International Airport observed a man speaking loudly into a cell phone, excitedly telling the person on the line he had just found the phone on the ground. The cop approached and instructed the 39-year-old man to turn the phone in to the lost-and-found, but the suspect refused, saying he couldn’t because he was waiting for his mother to get off a plane. The man was again told to turn in the phone, but instead he threw it on the ground and attempted to walk away “in an aggressive manner.” When asked if he had been drinking, the suspect—who appeared disheveled and had bloodshot eyes—said he had several glasses of wine at the airport bar while waiting. Police say that, while trying to handcuff the suspect, he began “pulling his arms away and attempted to curl into a fetal position.” Once cuffed, the perp was charged with disorderly conduct, public intoxication and resisting arrest.
