Dining
Taking its name both from musical theater (a passion of Myint’s) and the Asian etymology for the word “tea,” Cha-Chah will be a departure for the restaurateur. The son of International Market owners Patti and Win Myint, Arnold developed a menu for PM that fuses his French-style culinary education with Asian ingredients. Cha-Chah will focus not on Asian cuisine but on a roster of global tapas, wines and teas. Arnold, who leases the property from Patti, plans to add patios to both the front and back of the building.
While Arnold partnered with Patti to open PM, Cha-Chah will be the first local restaurant project by Arnold’s own company, Arc Inc. An ebullient chef and entrepreneur, he says he has several other projects up his sleeve, but he’s keeping mum on future plans.
Business (school) lunch
When the B-school brainiacs return to Vanderbilt’s Owen Graduate School of Management next week, they’ll have a new on-campus dining option. Maher Fawaz, owner of Kalamata’s Mediterranean restaurant, is partnering with second-year student Andrea Jacome to provide food to the student-run 8:10 Café. Named for the time of day when classes start, the 8:10 traditionally stocks sandwiches, bagels, soft drinks and snacks for students who don’t have time between classes and study groups to leave the premises of Management Hall. The one-year experiment with Green Hills-based Kalamata’s—which will supply breakfast and lunch foods, including the popular Great Greek Salad—promises a significant nutritional uptick for the previously carb-loaded student body.
