Yes, we frequently plug the local record vendors down at Grimey’s. No, we probably won’t stop anytime soon. Mike Grimes & Co. have been at it for a decade now, and we’re thinking that if they can weather this recession of ours, not to mention an ongoing, catastrophic, nationwide decline in record sales, they’ll probably be able to make it another 10 years. So how are Nashville’s favorite audiophiles going to celebrate their decennial? Why, by doing the only thing they do as well as shooting the breeze about obscure vinyl, of course: throwing an all-day party! This holiday soiree will feature eggnog, a visit from some character known as Naughty Santa, a storewide sale and special Yuletide performances in The Basement from Lylas, Melissa Mathis, the Nashville Ukulele Orchestra feat. Tom Littlefield, Jen Gunderman and friends (performing Vince Guaraldi's A Charlie Brown Christmas, no less) and more. Happy Tin Anniversary, Grimey’s—Wikipedia tells us the 10th is tin, whatever that means. Here’s to 10 more.
