Hmmm…another up-and-coming sample-based, post-hip-hop artist makes his way to the Nashville stage before rather than after he hits his peak. Is this a trend? ’Cuz if it is, we are totally, absolutely in to it. Slovenia-born Grammatik is the latest on-the-rise funky electro artist to stop here in town, and if things keep up this way, we’re gonna have to buy an new pair of dancing shoes ASAP. Grammatik’s smooth grooving chill-out music is out of this world—and by that we mean it’s from a country we weren’t entirely familiar with before we hit the Wikipedia. His latest, Street Bangerz Vol 2, would be more aptly dubbed Shaft In Space, what with its lush horn samples, wah-wah guitar and heavy, heavy grooves. We might have to make a mission to Slovenia if this is the kind of stuff they’re exporting.
