Lecture from Eran Egozy, Creator of Rock Band, at VanderbiltWe Can Be Heroes Just for One GameBy Adam GoldPublished on November 12, 2009 at 3:40amThere are two kinds of people in this world: those who have given up their lives to Rock Bandthe video game that goes to 11and those who still have jobs, families and actual meaningful human relationships. Perhaps the most addictive game since GoldenEye, Rock Band (combined with its predecessor Guitar Hero) may just be the savior of rock n roll. Just picture how many parents will successfully indoctrinate their kids into listening to The Beatles this Christmas when they slip the Fab Four-themed version of the game under the tree. As if on cue, the creator of both Rock Band and Guitar Hero, Eran Egozy, will speak at Vanderbilt about the games cultural influence. The event will culminate in a Rock Band competition, during which local Nashville rockers Cheer Up Charlie Daniels will compete against Vandy faculty, staff and students. Word on the street says this will involve smashing guitars.
