While we usually subscribe to the “Rapping About Shopping Is Bullshit” school of thought, the latest single from New York MC Fabolous “Throw It in The Bag” throws all that out the window. We would usually chalk it up to guilty pleasures, but when The Dream is singing the hook we feel no guilt. The Dream could sing passages from the Congressional Budget Office’s latest report and we’d be completely, totally enraptured. Once you throw in Drake, the former Degrassi: The Next Generation star who’s become the Nate Dogg of the late Aughts, we are defenseless against wily charms of conspicuous consumption. Just throw it in the bag, and do it quick—we’re sold. The latest single caps off a decade of hits, including “Can’t Deny It,” one of the shining lights from the turn-of-the-century pop-rap scene. 101 The Beat Jamz DJs Dollewhite and Scooby open.
