The Greencards at Station InnGreen PieceBy Jon WeisbergerPublished on November 05, 2009 at 3:40amTranslating an album that draws on all the resources of a recording studio into a compelling live set can be a daunting challenge, but when it comes to their latest, Fascination (Sugar Hill Records), its one that The Greencards have more than convincingly overcome. Thats best chalked up to focus and experience, for while the trio (augmented by Jake Stargell, whos settled into the guitar chair) makes engaging CDs, theyve got years of seemingly endless touring under their belts, and their fierce energy, tight arrangements and evident delight at jamming out rock intimate club audiences as easily as festival crowds. But their hometown appearances are relatively few, and this onetheir last of 2009is especially freighted, as Kym Warner (mostly mandolin) and Carol Young (bass, vocals) are set to bid farewell to dazzling fiddle partner Eamon McLoughlin at years end. That turns a show that would be dont miss by any standards into something special.
