Jim Lauderdale and Friends at The Ryman

You couldn’t ask for a better cast of traditional-minded artists to support ThanksUSA, a non-profit group whose annual national “Treasure Hunts” through the annals of American history benefit the children and spouses of military service members. Lauderdale’s written numerous hits for others (George Strait, Dixie Chicks) while filtering his country and pop predilections through a love of bluegrass across more than a dozen albums the last two decades. His lonesome tenor ache’s abetted by homespun wisdom and a wry humor (“I Met Jesus In a Bar”). As for Gill and Grant, that promising young duo of up-and-comers, if they’ve ever met a charity they could turn down we’ve yet to hear of it. Local progressive bluegrass stalwarts The Steeldrivers open.
