Of all the classic films to visit The Belcourt, here's one that's worth catching in the theater no matter how many times you've seen it: Sam Peckinpah's 1969 Western about a crew of aging, bad-ass bandits who flee to Mexico after what was to be their final bank heist goes awry. William Holden, Ernest Borgnine and Robert Ryan star as the world-weary old outlaws, and unlike the overtly righteous protagonists of earlier Westerns, these guys operate almost entirely in the moral gray area. Featuring just the right amount of ultraviolent explosions and general bloodspray, The Wild Bunch proves that sometimes it's the seasoned gun-slingers who plan the best heists--when they aren't boozin' and whorin' like it's going out of style, that is.
