The world's most outspoken apatheist (and host of HBO's exceptional Real Time With Bill Maher) waltzes into town to unclasp the buckle of the Bible Belt and, if all goes well, pull its hypocritical, gun-toting, tea-bagging pants to the ground. Though it certainly ruffled a few feathers here in Jesustown, Maher's film Religulous was the top-grossing documentary of 2008, and his unapologetic view that religion is little more than bizarre superstition and "arrogance parading as humility" no doubt struck a chord with Music City's beleaguered heathen minority, who will surely turn out in droves at the Ryman. Besides being an astute and fearless social critic and equal-opportunity assaulter (check out his recent rant against Obama), he's funny as hell--that is, if you find hell funny, INFIDEL! Best of all, since it's a Saturday show, you can flirt with eternal damnation and save your soul the very next morning.
