This week, kids big and small will be following the breadcrumbs to what promises to be a great new puppet production at the Downtown Library. Hansel and Gretel--the Grimm Brothers' tale of abandoned children, wicked stepmothers and cannibalistic witches--was probably not too shocking to peasants living through the plagues and famines of medieval Europe, but it's likely that this version will be toned down a bit. This yarn will be spun with the library's Peeko Puppets as well as a danke--a handmade wooden marionette gifted to the library by the Magdeburg Puppet Theater of Germany.
Fridays, Saturdays. Starts: May 22. Continues through June 13, 2009
