Full Moon Film FestivalThe Truffauts of TomorrowBy Jim RidleyPublished on April 30, 2009 at 3:42am"Suddenly some little fat girl from Ohio is gonna be the new Mozart and make a beautiful film with her father's camcorder," Francis Ford Coppola predicted in Hearts of Darkness, "and for once the so-called professionalism about movies will be destroyed forever--and it will really become an art form." It could just as likely happen at this citywide competition for Nashville high-school students, who will show short films they've made that loosely address the theme of American history 1770-2000. The judges are Space Cowboys screenwriter Howie Klausner, Nashville Film Festival artistic director Brian Owens, and film scholar/historian David Hinton (who will lead a Nashville contingent to Cannes later this month); prizes include a Mac editing system, video cameras, screenwriting software and cash. See fullmoonfilmfestival.com for more details.
